Buckingham Palace has confirmed that in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee next year, there is going to be an extra bank holiday from the 2nd to the 5th of June. Lucky for us, as with just 3 days of annual leave we can get nine days off – giving us ample time to enjoy a wellness retreat fit for a Queen!
It is no secret that the British Royals adore travelling, from Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands to Corfu, (after all, Prince Philip was born a Greek prince) to Mustique in the Caribbean, which was once solely reserved for the royals, particularly Princess Margret. So where should you travel to holiday like a Queen?
Christmas and New Years are a season onto themselves, filled with the best aspects of life that make you feel like maybe you are magic. While we’re terribly fond of our little island, let’s face it, December and January don’t exactly showcase Britain at its finest, so why not make the most of this magical season with a charming winter sun holiday escape?
After the last year of cancelled events, not being able to see the grandparents and home schooling, every family is craving a holiday! Whilst the sentiment at the moment is to stay domestic, that won’t stop us dreaming and we can start turning those dreams into a reality by planning a family holiday to look forward to in 2022. Break free from the normal routine, change up the scenery, and make meaningful memories while focusing on your wholefamily’s wellness.
Think of “weightlifting” and you picture muscle-bound strongmen straining under heavily- loaded barbells. As such, many women are put off lifting weights because they assume it'll make them bulky; the fact is that regular resistance exercises will create definition and strength, but stronger doesn't equal bigger for us females. Building and gaining muscle takes a great deal of dedication and it's actually very hard for women to bulk up - we simply don't have high enough testosterone levels.
Let’s be honest fathers are the most difficult people to get presents for! With mothers it can be flowers, a spa treatment, shoes, jewellery or even a home cooked meal… But the other parent is a completely different ball game – what do they want, need or like? There are only so many ties, hip flasks or mugs from the ‘World’s Best Dad’ collection we can get away with. With that in mind, why not give the gift of an active break for Father’s Day? They’re sure to appreciate the promise of a stimulating fitness-focused retreat to look forward to and the chance to spend time with their loved one. Get your cycling stamina, water-sport skills, and golfing down to a tee (pun intended) all while making meaningful memories with your pops!
Over the course of the last year, we have seen the engagements in our calendars rescheduled and eventually shelved indefinitely. From small everyday events like a cup of coffee with a friend or a trip to the gym to international events such as the Olympics, our routines came to a halt in an indiscriminatory way – nobody has been free from the effects of the pandemic. Given the frequently changing lockdowns and tiers, it’s easy to see how our perception of time has completely changed. It has meant many of us do not know where the virus year/s have gone. It is hugely down to the fact we separate time with distinguishing occasions – ‘the summer my son had his graduation’ or ‘it was the year we went to Dubai’… Without occasions, one day merely leans into the next, and the next, forming no memories.
On a slightly more optimist note, whether COVID-19 entered our lives or not, there are so many mental health and wellness benefits of having a holiday to look forward to which include:
