February is LGBT+ History Month where we celebrate the community and its heritage to advocate, support and help bring about awareness and change. The term was first coined in 1994 by High-school teacher Rodney Wilson, who became the founder of the first Gay history month celebration, not to be confused with Pride, which came as a result of the 1967 Stonewall riots.
